Step 1 - Welcome to the Geoshell R4 Setup Wizard
This is the first screen of the installer. There are no major choices that need to be made right now...

Step 2 - License Agreement
This is the license that Geoshell is released under... The GPL is a license type for software that guarantees that the software remains freely distributable, that the source code is available, that you can make changes to it and redistribute those changes if you want, on the condition that you keep on using the same license for your derived works.

Step 3 - Choose Components
This allows you to choose which components you want to install. You can choose from a few preconfigured arrangements or select/deselect each item as you see fit. You should be aware that most of the time, all of the components are installed under the "Full" option, but there have been a few times when this was not true.
- GeoShell - This is GeoShell, the reason you are running the installer.
- Shell - (Required) This is the core of GeoShell, without which everything else would be useless.
- WinShellEx - (Required) This is the WinShellEx shell loader which includes the main tray monitoring service.
- Base Plugins - The core plugins are required for new installs, however, if you are upgrading, you may choose to skip updating these.
- Default Settings Install - These settings are required for new users, if you are upgrading, be aware that installing these will overwrite your existing settings.
- Register as Shell - Set GeoShell as your default shell. You can undo this any time by running this batch file from the utilities folder: Set Shell = Exploder.bat (Note: To have access to this batch file and the simple program it calls, you MUST install the Additional Files\Utilities item below!)
- Additional Files - The necessary extra files to make your use of GeoShell enjoyable.
- Utilities - If you are a new user you should install these tools for use with GeoShell. They include a tool for setting your default shell, and several utilities for using GeoShell alongside Explorer.
- Icons - Some icons for use with GeoShell. These are basically required for new users, although you may choose not to install them, it may affect the look of the shell.
- Skins - Some default skins to get you started. If you are upgrading, or are sure you want to use GeoShell unskinned, feel free to skip these.
- Sound Settings - The sound settings don't affect you in any way unless you change them, they tell Windows what events GeoShell supports, so you can setup up sounds in your windows sounds control panel.
- Docs - The GeoShell documentation, please install this, so you will have it handy when you need this. Editor's note: There are a few good files that get installed with this option, but I would hardly call it documentation for GeoShell. If you need offline documentation, Jaykul should be working on making the wiki available offline in pdf format at some point in the future - feel free to remind him if a pdf never shows up...
- Extras - Some more stuff we thought you might like to make your shell more fun.
- More Icons - Some more icons for use with GeoShell. These are just extras we thought you might like.
- More Plugins - Some additional plugins you may find useful. You should note that even more plugins are available online at http://www.geoshell.com
.
- More Skins - Some more skins for use with GeoShell. These are just extras we thought you might like.

Step 4 - Select a theme to install
There are three different default configurations that you can choose from when installing. They effect the initial arrangement of geobars and plugins. Nothing else is effected by this decission and if you plan on customizing your Geoshell installation a lot, then it doesn't matter which one you choose. No matter what, you will still find familiar hotkeys!

If you are having trouble deciding which theme to install, then take a look at the bottom of this page.
Step 5 - Choose Install Location
The default location for GeoShell is C:\Shells\GeoShell\. If you have previously installed GeoShell to a different location, then it will display that location in this box (which is why it is different in this screenshot...).

Step 6 - Installing
You aren't required to do anything at this point in the installation, although you are encouraged to sit back and watch the show as the installer sets up your new installation of GeoShell.

Step 7 - Completing the Geoshell R4 Setup Wizard
There is only one left thing to decide – do you want the installer to reboot the machine for you, or would you like to do it yourself?
