Description & History

Litestep is another alternative window manager for windows. It was around before GeoShell and used to be fairly big, bigger than GeoShell was.

Unfortunately for the Litestep userbase, the development team has pretty much disperesed over recent years, and it's quite difficult to figure out who's actually developing it now, if anyone at all.

It's a VERY customisable shell (more so than GeoShell) and can help you achieve pretty much any look you want for your desktop. It has a fairly steep learning curve though, which puts many people off. I also has a tendency to be a little bit unstable, although I think this is because it hasnt seen many updates whilst Windows XP has been around.

http://litestep.net Probably the premiere Litestep resource at the moment, registration required
http://www.shellfront.org/lsdev/ Some development builds of the Litestep shell. Used to be fairly active, but doesn't seem to have been updated for a year

In the end, you'll probably be back here learning how to use GeoShell, if you're looking for an alternative shell
