This small section has not been rewritten to reflect changes made since we made when WinShellEx was added.. The directions are not 100% accurate yet...
Note that you should be able to do this, even if geoshell has already been deleted from your system. In windows 9x, your best bet is to boot to DOS and use edit to open C:\Windows\System.ini and change the shell value to Shell=Explorer.exe
In windows NT/2K/XP you can just boot in as normal, and if nothing comes up as your shell, you simply press Ctrl+Shift+Esc (or Alt+Ctrl+Del, and select "Task Manger") to get the task manager, which has a File -> Run menu command, which you can use to start "regedit.exe" and then (after changing the appropriate values) start "explorer.exe"
- Run "<your_geoshell_dir>\Utilities\Set Shell = Exploder.bat"
- OR open "RegEdit.exe" and navigate to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT!CurrentVersion\Winlogon and then set the value for "Shell" to "Explorer.exe" and do the same thing for the "Shell" value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT!CurrentVersion\Winlogon
- OR on windows 9x, run "Notepad.exe" and open C:\Windows\System.ini and look for the line that starts with "shell=" and change it to shell=explorer.exe
- Exit GeoShell, if it's running (default hotkey = Win+X)
- Run "explorer.exe" and it should launch as shell
- Assuming all of that worked properly, you can continue using your machine, or give it a clean logon/reboot
- After logon/reboot, delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\geO registry key.
- Delete the geoshell folder.
